Queens of the Stone Age have always been unique and magnetic. It's not just their sound. It's their spirit. They are provocative in the most essential way: They are not afraid to explore the dark, the sexual, the surreal, the absurd. It is art that both tightens and seduces, and never as much as on their ninth album, Perfecth, which will be released on October 30th on Matador Records.

The album is produced by Joshua Homme and Michael Shuman.

The album is inspired by Kintsugi – the Japanese art form where broken ceramics are reassembled by filling the cracks with gold – showing that what is broken can become more beautiful, not uglier, by repairing. It is precisely in this spirit that Perfecth was made. An album that has only been possible for the band to create now, because Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita, and Jon Theodore as a collective have taken significant evolutionary steps. The album's nine songs map out different forms of love: for family, friends, and others both significant and insignificant. The love that destroys you and is not survived, as well as the love that puts you back together again.

Born out of sessions from New Orleans to Los Angeles, the music is fearless and boundless, moody and menacing, gentle and strange. Here, Queens have moved a whole career's worth of stunted pieces onto a cohesive line. "Every song sounds like it's from a different world," says Homme. "And that's on purpose, because it's trying to stitch together all these emotions revolving around love, lust, foolishness, and the sort of wisdom that comes as a gift from all that."
