A lesser-known but seminally contribution from Barth and Johannes Hamel, this book explores the difficulties of serving God in modern polities generally, but also specifically in Soviet Russia's Eastern Block countries. The book explores teh moral dillemas believers face under all forms of government, but also how they're more magnificed under an authoritarian regime. Yet it also shows how we might care for those who face the difficulties posed that we do not share. These three short letters reveal much about the complexities in post-World War II contexts but still show how the gospel can impact cultures and governments hostile to it.
