British novelist Algernon Henry Blackwood (born March 14, 1869, Shooters Hill, Kent, UK-died December 10, 1951, London, UK) was one of the most fascinating and prolific writers of tales of mystery and the supernatural. In his later years, Blackwood even achieved a wide audience as a teller of weird tales on British radio and television. His haunting, imaginative narration mixes elements of horror, romance, occultism, although his most typical work seeks less to frighten than to induce a good sense of awe. "So many of my stories, therefore, deal with extension of consciousness; speculative and imaginative treatment of possibilities outside our normal range of consciousness. Also, all that happens in our universe is natural; under Law; but an extension of our so limited normal consciousness can reveal new, extra-ordinary powers, and the word 'supernatural' seems the best word for treating these in fiction. I believe it possible for our consciousness to change and grow, and that with this change we may become aware of a new universe." (Algernon Blackwood) This volume unveils five timeless weird tales composed by the author: The Damned (1914) The Terror Of The Twins (1909) The Touch Of Pan (1917) The Whisperers (1912) The Transfer (1911)
