The Ballad of the White Horse (Annotated)

Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-The purpose of realizing this historical context is to approach the understanding of a historical epoch from the elements provided by the text. Hence the importance of placing the document in context. It is necessary to unravel what its author or authors have said, how it has been said, when, why and where, always relating it to its historical moment. Chesterton may have considered The Ballad of the White Horse as his greatest literary achievement. I have two reasons for saying that. First of all, it is a masterpiece. But it was the only one of his works that he felt worthy enough to dedicate to his wife. The Ballad of the White Horse It is one of the last great epic poems in English. It deserves a high place in literature. It must be studied in depth and discussed in depth and appreciated far and wide. But as is the case with most of Chesterton's writings, very few of us have discovered this. The Ballad is the story of the English King Alfred, who fought against the Danes in 878. But it is also the story of Christianity fighting against the destructive forces of nihilism and paganism, which is the battle that we are still fighting.
