California Haiku
Glen Alberto Salazar
I wrote California Haiku as a poetic homage to my home state. While at times I follow the traditional Japanese style to write haiku as set by Basho, I mostly write them using the American interpretation given by Kerouac with the addition of my Californian flavor. Having lived in the Golden State most of my life, I feel as though my soul is infused with the spirit of California's nature. From the snowy Sierras to the sandy Pacific beaches and from the forests in the north to the deserts in the south, California is a land of majestic natural beauty.
