The Good Soldier is a novel by Ford Madox Ford that takes place just before World War 1 and follows the tragedy of Edward Ashburnham which is the soldierto whom the title refers. Ford Madox Ford (1873-1939) was an English critic and poet born in Merton, England. He is best remembered for his novels The Good Soldier, the Parade's End tetralogy and The Fifth Queen trilogy.
