KazanThorpe and his hunting dog Kazan, one-quarter wolf and three-quarters husky, go to the Canadian wilderness where they meet McCready. The men appear to know each other and have an abusive relationship. When McCready attacks Thorpe's wife, Kazan kills him and runs for his safety. He encounters a wolf pack and a young female gray wolf, and becomes their leader.
