Until now, there has been no critical text of the Châteauroux Roland, only transcripts. This preserves the intrinsic features of C and reveals its authority, but the evidence invalidates Segre’s thesis of the anteriority of V7 and the choice of V7 as base text for the 2005 edition of the Châteauroux–Venice 7 version.
