This was an utterly ridiculous and thus utterly delightful vision of an artistic family living a Bohemian London life, with as much of a relationship to the real thing as Elizabethan pastorals had to actually being a shepherd. It has good moral lessons about not being a flirt & not being too fond of finery, and the narrator constantly reminds the reader not to judge too harshly the disorder of her Bohemian household.
