The Bondage of the Will

The Bondage of the Will is one of Luther's most famous works. Later in life Luther would refer to it as one of his best, and one of the few he hoped survived. In 1524 Erasmus of Rotterdam published an attack on Luther's theology, arguing that mankind has free will. This book, originally published in 1525, is Luther's response. He argues the Biblical case of man's sin and bound will, and that our only hope is the work of God in Christ to save us.
