The basis for being a good leader consist in the respect other people feel towards you, and if we can be certain of something, is that people's respect is not earned by itself. A boss, most of the times, is not particularly respected, but feared. For an employee it is intimidating to make mistakes in front of their boss, because of fear of being fired. The difference between a boss and a leader is that the leader is not feared, but respected. Their employees feel proud about the leader's achievements and they appreciate the knowledge they provide for the team. To be a respected person, it is necessary to earn that title. This is not too easy, but neither is it impossible. It all depends on the way we behave and treat other people.
