Twentieth Century Girl is a philosophical look back at almost a century of change in America. The author has lived through remarkable times: World War II and the subsequent military upheavals; social unrest and the fundamental change in the character of the American people; the development of the technological age, with all of its as yet unknown consequences; the attack on the American way of life by Islamic extremists and the threat they pose to the very survival of the country. She has crossed the Atlantic forty-four times and visited four continents. In her travels, she has explored the history of the peoples she encountered, looking for lessons learned and guidance for the future. The book is addressed to her grandsons and their progeny in the hope that this window on a world now gone will help them make hard choices in their futures.
