The Woman in White

It is considered one of the first novels of mystery, and as one of the first (and best) English subgenre called novel sensation. The story can be seen as an early example of the detective novel, the hero, Walter Hartright, using many of the characteristics of private detectives techniques. The use of multiple narratives is based on the legal formation of Collins, which we see mentioned in the preamble of the work with the following words: "the story presented here will tell more than a pen, as the history of a crime against the laws is told in the court of law for more than one witness. " This goes beyond the narrative curiosity, achieving an effect of great interest regarding the point of view of the narrator, who eludes own omniscience of other works of the time.
