In addition to being a writer, he is a carpenter and housepainter, a talented artist (he painted the cover artwork for Timeless Love), and owner of a business specializing in general construction and remodeling. A fitness freak, he runs, swims, plays basketball, and lifts weights. In addition to drawing and painting, J. D. also enjoys photography, reading, cooking, watching movies, and traveling. J. D. is currently working on several writing projects, including a gay historical romance set in the pre-Civil War period, a sequel to Timeless Love, and a semi-autobiographical novel about his own experiences as a homless young man when his parents severed their relationship with him after he came out of the closet. J. D. currently resides in a small town in southeast Tennessee.
