John Ritson
A collector of literary antiquities, Joseph Ritson (1752–1803) was particularly interested in medieval ballad poetry. Published in two volumes in 1795, this is an important collection of songs and poems relating to the legend of Robin Hood. Volume 1 contains a discussion of the tradition as well as several texts.
