Wyndyke Furlong is the latest in a long series of archaeological investigations into the Iron Age landscape to the west of Abingdon. The site formed a northern continuation of Parrington's excavation at Ashville during the 1970s and revealed more of the large middle Iron Age settlement and early Roman field system.
