Six-part BBC adaptation of the classic science fiction thriller. When a mysterious comet shower results in large swathes of the population becoming blind it is up to the sighted survivors to try and re-establish human civilization. Meanwhile, as the carnivorous plants known as triffids begin wreaking havoc on the blind human population, farm worker Bill Masen (John Duttine) attempts to flee London with Jo (Emma Relph) but some sighted survivors are opposed to leaving the blind population at the mercy of the triffids.
